The IPNC has finished the winery selection process for the 2012 event. Wineries interested in participating in the 2013 event should sample wine samples in the fall of 2012.
"We had a great experience and found ourselves with renewed inspiration."
-Ann and Alex Davis, Porter Creek Vineyards
"The weekend was an awesome combination of wonderful camaraderie, intellectual interest and unabashed hedonistic debauchery (all good, right). In the end, it's not about the liquid in the glass, but about the feelings it helps elicit and the friends you share it with."
-Dan Goldfield, Dutton-Goldfield
ABOUT DOMESTIC WINERY PARTICIPATION
If you would like to be added to our winery database and receive IPNC related winery announcements and mailings, please visit our Contact page and fill out the online form.
Each year in the fall (September - November), the IPNC accepts wine submissions from Oregon Pinot Noir producers who have never participated in the IPNC, those who haven't participated in the last four years, and those who are simply interested in being considered for the upcoming Celebration. While the IPNC does not solicit samples from wineries outside of Oregon, wine submissions from other regions are gladly accepted and will certainly be included in the tasting and selection process.
The IPNC celebrates Pinot Noir from all the major growing regions of the world. Through our selection process, the IPNC hopes to introduce guests to the outstanding quality and diversity of Pinot Noir now being produced around the world. The Celebration is designed to give maximum opportunity for casual interaction between the featured winemakers and attending guests. Due to the confines of the venue and our commitment to maintaining the event's informality, we are limited in the number of wineries we can feature annually. Approximately seventy Pinot Noir producers are featured each year. The IPNC's goal is to select a slate of wineries by focusing on quality, both of the individual wines presented and the event as a whole, as the principal criterion. Quality will also be the dominant factor in the determination of the number and distribution of participating wineries. Secondarily, the theme and focus of the program will influence selection, number, and distribution of wineries. Several other factors are also taken into account, such as region, diversity, participation history, and size.
A wine selection panel consisting of winemakers, restaurateurs, and retailers appointed by the Board of Directors will be meeting in December 2012 and January 2013 to formulate a list of proposed featured wineries for the 2013 IPNC. This process takes several weeks. After the Board reviews the list in January, the selected wineries will receive an invitation to participate by the end of February.
Participation as a Featured Winery requires a $1,500 registration fee, a contribution of four to six cases of wine, and the participation of two winery representatives throughout the IPNC weekend. Other participation details will follow the selection process.
